I've heard it said that copying others work is a compliment, I disagree, though it is a great way to learn a new technique. I learn much from the generous people who post videos on Youtube. Once past the learning stage I feel one need take the inspiration they find in others work and work it further, add their own personal touch to it. Ask oneself how do I take these techniques learned and push, pull, bend and stretch them into my own? Happy Creating!
